During the last eight weeks (and counting…) one of the central themes that have emerged for me is a feeling of deep respect and awe – reverence – for Mother Nature and her innate intelligence. We have seen images of clear skies, wildlife returning to populated areas
Many of society’s problems today are due to our own misalignment with the wisdom and principles of nature. Nature has much to teach us about living a satisfying, balanced and sustainable life only if we use her principles as a guideline for conducting our lives. Living more satisfying, harmonious and happy lives will impact every aspect of our existence, including relationships, health, business and spirituality.
“What if you could hire the best “life coach” ever… one with millions of years of success at creating beautiful, abundant, sustainable life? Well you can… its called Nature!” ~ Bruce Lipton, Ph.D.
Principles of Nature:
- Collaboration – the bee and the flower need to collaborate in order to ensure their mutual survival. The same principle applies to people and the planet.
- Adaptability – Nature teaches us the importance of seeing limitations as
opportunities, and adapting accordingly. - Diversity. Imagine a scene with all the trees having only one
colour , shapeor size. Diversity is beautiful! The same is true for people and cultures. - Harmony. Vibrant mental and physical health requires that we live in harmony with our microbiome, in community with our fellow human beings
and in communion with nature. [If you have not yet come across Zach Bush MD’s work, do yourself afavour and watch this incredible interview: https://youtu.be/5RAtFBvKrVw ] - Cause and Effect. Just as the action of the water shapes the shoreline, your beliefs and perceptions shape your life. Our
sub-conscious beliefs determine the limits of what we can achieve. - Resiliency. A forest fire makes room for new growth in the forest. Similarly what may appear to be a crisis in our life can make room for “new growth” and renewal.
- Balance. Natural systems are in a state of equilibrium. This balance ensures
survival and stability of the environment. A regular yoga and meditation practice allow us tore-connect to the earth with physical stability, resilienceand mental ease. - Interconnectedness. Aspen trees may appear to be separate from each other, but they are all part of the same root system. In a similar way we appear to be separate from each other, but are rooted in a common Source. Everything happens in an interconnected multi-dimensional way.
- Timing. Just as the seasons of nature are arranged in a perfect sequence and have their individual purposes, so too do we have the seasons of our lives.
A time of birth and growth, a prime time of power and flow, a time of maturity (harvesting the wisdom of our experiences), and of waging (reflection and sharing of wisdom) as we prepare to leave this life.a time - More is not always better. There is beauty in simplicity. In a world of excess sometimes less is more.
- Effective use of resources. Ultimately everything in nature is recycled. The rotting tree stump becomes food for new plant life and completes the ancient cycle of death and birth.
May Mother Nature’s wisdom inspire you to cultivate balance, evolve
